Bishop McKenna appoints Fr Reynold Jaboneta as Parish Priest of Oberon

Dear Friends in Christ,

As you may already have heard, Father Philip Filby will be retiring as Parish Priest of Oberon on the Feast of the Epiphany, 3rd January 2021.

Father Philip has given devoted pastoral care to the people of Oberon and Black Springs since Advent 2012. He has continued well past the time when he would have been entitled to retire, but has generously given his ministry since then.

Father Reynold Jaboneta will be appointed Parish Priest of Oberon from the date of Father Filby’s retirement, and Father Francis Muhenda as Administrator of Coonabarabran and Coonamble. I am most grateful to these priests for agreeing to take on these responsibilities so quickly.

I know that both priests will receive a good welcome and you will be prepared to work with them in the mission of our local church.

May God bless the new Parish Priest, the new Parish Administrator and new Pastor Emeritus.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

+Michael McKenna
Bishop of Bathurst
