The Diocese and Housing Plus to provide state-of-the-art accommodation for people with disabilities
Together in partnership, The Catholic Diocese of Bathurst and Housing Plus has submitted a development application to Bathurst Regional Council to redevelop a diocesan owned property in Vine Street, Bathurst. The application seeks approval to build a state of the art, purpose built house for people in our community living with complex disability needs.
This exciting new proposal will provide around the clock accommodation and care for up to five residents. It will see the mission of the local church put into a practice, with the intention that every individual should have access to service and accommodation that can help them achieve their personal goals and live a life of independence that suits them.
The house has been designed to offer residents independence and choice within an active 24 hour residential support setting. Private suites will feature kitchenettes, ensuites and courtyards with private access as well as expansive common living areas.
As a leading not-for-profit community organisation, Housing Plus is an accredited NDIS provider and seeks to provide safe and secure accommodation with integrated support services across the Central Western Region. The values of Housing Plus are aligned closely with the values of the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst.
Once the DA is approved, building works are scheduled to commence in February 2018, with completion likely in the second half of 2018.
