Invitation to Orange’s Fatima Centenary Celebrations
Friday 13th October marks the centenary of the conclusion of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima. St Mary’s and St Joseph’s Parish, Orange, will celebrate this significant occasion with the blessing and installation of a new statue of Our Lady of Fatima in the north transept of St Joseph’s Church. The celebrations will commence at 5.00pm in the grounds of Catherine McAuley School (enter via Hill St).
The statue will be blessed and taken in procession to St Joseph’s Church while all pray the rosary and sing hymns. In the procession there will be flower children and three children will be dressed as the three young visionaries Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco. The procession will conclude in the Church with the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the crowning of the statue. Mass will commence at 5.45pm.
During the Mass families are able to bring forward written prayer intentions and deposit them near the statue. All the prayer intentions will be bundled together and sent to Portugal where they will be included with other pilgrim prayers placed at the feet of the statue of Our Lady in Fatima itself.
There will also be blessed roses available: families are invited to take one rose home and to press and keep it as a memento of the centenary.
After Mass there will be a buffet in Kenna Hall, to which all are welcome. We will cut a special centenary cake.
You are all invited to come along and participate in this special feast.
