Clergy appointments 2017
Bishop McKenna has announced the following new arrangements for the Parish of Blayney:-
Father Tim Cahill will, from 21st January 2017, become a resident member of the Shalom community in Carcoar. He will provide Mass at Carcoar, Mandurama and Trunkey Creek on a regular basis and other places as required by the Bishop.
Father Paul Devitt has been appointed as Administrator of the Parish of Blayney from that date. He and the Cathedral priests will provide Mass, sacraments and other pastoral care in Blayney. For the time being, from that date, the Eucharistic community of Millthorpe will be served from Orange.
Mr Josh Clayton, who is preparing for ordination to the diaconate on 17th February 2017, will be appointed then as the Administrator’s delegate in the Parish, to help co-ordinate the works of the many dedicated volunteers.
Father Paul Devitt met with the people of Blayney Parish at the weekend concerning these arrangements. From now until the effective date, Josh and his family will be getting to know the people of the Parish.
Bishop McKenna said: "These are bold steps for all concerned and we seek the wisdom and strength of God in carrying them out".
Following consultation with the Clergy Appointments Board, Bishop Michael McKenna has also made the following appointments, effective 21st January 2017:
- Parish Priest of Lithgow and Portland - Reverend Garry McKeown;
- Parish Priest of Orange and Molong - Reverend Gregory Bellamy;
- Assistant Priest of Orange and Molong - Reverend Pius Khaoya.
Bishop McKenna has expressed his gratitude to these priests for their willingness to serve in this way and asks God’s blessing on them and the people of these parishes.
