New Chaplain Appointed to Bathurst Gaol

Bishop Michael McKenna has appointed Margaret Meagher as Chaplain to the Bathurst Correctional Complex.
Margaret is a Psychologist with a degree in Criminology. She has extensive experience in counselling and mediation in rural areas and is a member of the Cathedral Parish.
She will be one of two Chaplains at the Complex, and will provide pastoral care and support to approximately 500 inmates, staff and their families.
In Commissioning Margaret, Bishop McKenna said “”Whether you are leading groups in worship, lending a compassionate ear, offering a word of wisdom, or assisting in practicalities, may your presence be a sign of Christ’s love, which is closest to those who suffer most”.
Margaret takes up her position on 18th March with some training in Sydney and begins her ministry in Bathurst on 25th March.
